Final frame at the Cuius Deo Optimo Open, 2006

Great news!  One of my very best photos, Final frame at the Cuius Deo Optimo Open has been selected for inclusion in the prestigious Art of Photography Show being held at the Lyceum Theater Gallery in San Diego from April 14 to May 28, 2007. This will be the first time one of my pieces will appear in an international juried exhibit, so to say I’m excited is an understatement.

This year, the event received 9,867 entries from 37 countries, of which 103 pieces were chosen to be included in the exhibit. Applying a little math (after all, I am an engineer by trade), the odds of being selected were about 1 in 96. I imagine the selection process went something like this…  No. No. No. Huh uh. No. No. Wait. Bowling for nuns. I love it! Hold that one. No. No. No….

A show catalog containing images of all of the selected pieces is being prepared to complement the exhibit, with (I’m assuming) the catalog being available to collectors during the gallery run.

What they are calling the “Opening Reception Gala” is taking place April 14th, and will include artists, patrons, civic leaders, and other luminaries. I suppose this means I’ll have no choice but to wear “gala” clothes… which pretty much counts out my usual professional garb of shorts and t-shirts.

Hope you’re all able to make it by the gallery sometime during the run to see my photo (which my friends like to call “Bowling for nuns”) on display amidst work from some of the finest photographers in the world!
