The Escape! Into Art show opened this past Monday — a 7 person show that will run for 3 weeks, including 13 of my photographs, 8 of which are brand new creations to intrigue, entertain and (possibly) offend.
It was a little stressful getting the show up and displayed, as the majority of my pieces didn’t come back from the framer until an hour or so before I was to begin hanging the show. Luckily, all the worry was for naught — I did get to pick up my pieces on time, the frames I selected looked great, and everything made its way up onto the gallery walls with very little mishap.
And just in case you’re not able to make it out to the gallery (remember, that’s the Village Gallery in La Jolla, 7932 Ivanhoe Avenue), either for the daily 11 to 5 hours, or for the reception on the 25th… I’ve get a few snapshots taken Sunday night while the show was going up.
Most of my pieces were being hung over the the reception desk, which offered a few hanging challenges.
I placed five photos on the left and over the desk, hung at various heights.
Five more, as you can see, were arranged on the right.
The final three were hung on the back wall. These were all older photos that had yet to appear in a proper gallery show. The one at the very bottom, The toy surprise for the prize inside, is included on the flyer advertising the show.
Sorry for the slightly blurry images here, I promise to do better when I take photos at the reception.
In the meantime, drop by the gallery for an in-person visit. Everything looks so much more spectacular up close and personal!
