Looks like things are on track for the Escape! Into Art show opening Monday at the Village Gallery in La Jolla. As mentioned previously, there’s quite a bit of prep work in advance of actually setting up for an exhibit — especially when that exhibit is the first to highlight more than one or two pieces. In this case, I’ll have somewhere between 8 and 13 pieces on display and I’ll be sharing the gallery space with 6 other artists — usually, I’m one fish in a sea of several dozen.
So, this being my first “real” show, I decided to design and print business cards to hand out at the reception and have available at the gallery during the run of the show. And, yesterday afternoon, my cards arrived!
Rather than settle on just one design (anyone who knows me knows I’m all about not settling for things), I came up with four, each featuring a different photo, some with the text at the bottom, some on the sides, some in white, some in fiery red. Some have text imprinted over the image, some don’t… whatever looked right to my very particular eyes. The backs are all the same: basic contact image plus a small photo (which will remain a surprise until you have a chance to pick up a card sometime).
The business card above features Monique is suspicious that her little metal man is too good to be true. Everyone knows Monique from her frequent appearances in my blog — plus, she’s right over there on the left, doing her best to draw your attention to the “Gallery” button in the navigation bar. Like the back of the card, the other three images being used on the front will remain a mystery; one is an older image from the same sessions that produced Monique, while the other two are from the new series of photos produced for the upcoming exhibit.
Get yours while you can, they are sure to become much coveted collector’s items (snicker, snicker).
