A wonderful new piece has been added to my art collection thanks to the generosity of one of my artist friends, Anthia Linou. Anthia is a talented collage and installation artist whose work I first discovered at a juried group show at the Athenaeum Art & Music Library in La Jolla this past summer, where I instantly fell wide-eyed in love with her jaw-dropping use of old books, found objects and iconography to form dense statements on life, travel, religion and self-inspection. Very cool stuff!!
The photo above is of an altar installation she constructed for the Thread fashion & Lifestyle show this past March, which she graciously reconstructed for me in my new photo studio. You’ll also find this piece added to the Collection portion of my site.
Anthia has a rich portfolio of collage work, which I was lucky to photograph and catalog in preparation for her application to various art schools. A couple of these pieces are included here for your artistic enjoyment.
Recently, she was accepted to the Oregon College of Art & Craft, where she will no doubt continue to develop her craft and explore new forms of artistic expression. Join me in wishing Anthia the best as she embarks on furthering her education!
