First off I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question
that I'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was curious to
find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.
I've had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks!

John,

Wonderful writeup. I wished I'd found this a few weeks ago - it would have lowered the learning curve wrt the innards of the Aperture package layout.

I too was tied of brushing in detailed masks for each adjustment. I wrote an AppleScript to do the work of finding the masks and copying them vs. your Finder based method. More user-friendly, I think. My script also allows you to "lift once, stamp many", meaning you can deal with multiple adjustments and only restart Aperture once.

Check it out.

Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet
effective. A lot of times it's tough to get that "perfect balance" between usability and visual appeal. I must say that you've done a great job with this.
Also, the blog loads very quick for me on Opera. Superb Blog!

Wow Michael, what a thread! Detailed, fun, and convenient to use. Unfortunately, I am not using the book themes for small sized books. I have a few very frustrating hair pulling questions about another theme, called Snapshot.

Last year I successfully modified this theme in such a way that I can change and resize every snapshot photo, which originally is impossible. For some additional requests for customization I send you this reply.

What I like about the snapshot theme is, of course, snapshots! Although, Aperture won't allow me to use the snapshot book theme and combine this with some customizable maps, as the case with the journal theme. As I looked into the content of both, snapshot and journal, themes I saw in the theme.plist file that the journal theme has a key called:

defaultMapStyle, string, PhotoJournal

This key is, of course, absent in the theme.plist file of the Snapshot theme. I would like to ask if it is possible to include this key into the theme.plist file of the Snapshot theme in order to select, customize, and simply include maps within my snapshot extra large book? Or do I have to do some other fancy stuff to make it work?

In addition, I don't like the fact that all map designs, from both photo essay and journal theme, mark the entire province if a location, within that province, is included on the map of the book. Instead of marking a province more brown, as with the journal theme, I prefer to mark the entire country more brown. I don't know why but something tells me that this can't be changed, but if you know something that might help it would really make my day.

Thank you in advance.
